Things to do at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport

Charles de Gaulles Airport, also know as Roissy Airport is the largest international airport in France and second-busiest airport in Europe. It is located 23 km (14 miles) northeast of Paris and sees more than 76 million passengers pass through its doors each year.

Whether you only have an hour to spare before your flight or you are spending at long layover at the airport, Charles de Gaulle Airport has an option for you.


Things to do at CDG

Relax in the Icare Lounge

Spend your time at the airport in style and away from the hustle and bustle of the terminal by heading to the Icare lounge in Terminal 1. Enjoy comfy, leather chairs and plenty of outlets so that you can work or relax with ease. Visit the outdoor area where you can unwind and take in the surroundings and get some fresh air.

This lounge is located in the duty-free shops area on the 10th floor. Follow Icare signage to the lounge. Located past security. You must have a valid boarding pass to access the lounge.

Freshen Up with a shower at YOTELAIR

If you feel like you need to freshen up before or after your flight you can take a shower at YOTELAIR. The hotel offers shower only packages to travelers for just €20 per 30 minutes. Towels and toiletries are provided by the hotel.

Get a massage Be Relax

Airports can be stressful places. Manage and reduce your travel stress by using your airport downtime for some self-care. Free things to do at CDG

Meditate in the Prayer Room

A great way to get away from the chaos of the main terminal is to spend some time in the Prayer Room. Most airports will have multi faith prayer rooms available for traveling passengers. These are open, inviting spaces where guests are encouraged to be quiet and respectful and take some time for reflection.

There are 3 prayer rooms at Charles de Gaulle. The prayer room at Terminal 2E is less denominational and does not hold any religious services. This is the best option is you want somewhere peaceful to meditate and reflect. You will find the prayer room in the boarding area of Hall L, next to Gate L33.

Play some vintage video games at the Neo Legend Arcade

Take a walk down memory lane as you play some iconic 80s games at the Neo Legend Arcade in CDG. There are 10 different areas throughout Charles de Gaulle airport where you can find vintage games such as Pacman, Space Invaders and many more. It is a great way to spend your airport downtime. Take the time to visit all ten areas and get a mini workout in too!

There are arcades in Terminal 1, 2 and 3.

Luggage storage at CDG

Bagages Du Monde

Bagages Du Monde offers a 100% secure storage service. Enjoy your time in Paris without the burden of looking after your luggage. You can reserve a locker on the digital platform and there is no maximum or minimum storage time. Open from 06:00 – 21:30.

Long Layover at CDG

French Aerospace Museum

The National Air and Space Museum is one of the world’s finest aviation museums with an incredible collection of more than 400 aircraft and lots of other exhibitions too. Spend a couple of hours exploring and learning some aviation history while still sticking close to the airport. Entry to the museum costs €16. The museum is located approx. 7.4 miles from the airport and the fastest and most straightforward way to get there is via taxi.

Parc du Cèdre

If you have a few hours to spare at CDG, why not get out of the airport and into the fresh air? Parc du Cèdre is only 2.1 miles from the airport. Walk or run in the park and enjoy being out in nature and away from the chaos of the airport. The park is named for a large 300+ year old cedar tree at its centre. Time spent in the fresh air and the sunshine can really upgrade your travel experience making the rest of your journey more enjoyable. If you want a more rigorous work out, go for a jog in the park and then head to the Star Alliance Lounge at CDG. Shower facilities are available to lounge guests and lounge passes can be purchase for £30.

Head Downtown

Paris is one of the most iconic and culture rich cities in Europe. If you have a long layover at Charles de Gaulle take the opportunity to head downtown and explore the sites. It will take you approx. an hour to get downtown from the airport so make sure you plan your time carefully. Use the hop on hop off buses to navigate the city with ease. There are lots of tourist sites to choose from however do remember that Paris is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and so nearly everywhere is going to be busy. Just keep an eye on the time and make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get back to the airport and back through security before your next flight.

Transport Options

Bus: The airport is well connected to Paris via a bus network. No matter where you need to go you can catch a bus from the terminal.

Train: The airport is also well connected via train. You can catch the CDGVAL automatic people mover, The RER B regional rapid transit line and the TGV high-speed train lines directly from the airport.

Overnight Layover?

YOTELAIR

If you have an overnight layover at Charles de Gaulle or you would prefer to spend your airport downtime relaxing, then head to YOTELAIR and book a luxury cabin for a few hours. You can only stay at this hotel if you have a boarding card for a flight departing in Terminal 2E. A minimum of four hours must be booked. All of the amenities you need to relax, sleep and refresh are provided so you can go to your next destination in top form.
