Things to do in Barkol Dahe Airport
Barkol County in eastern Xinjiang is a Kazakh ethnic minority area at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains, with the high-altitude Barkol Lake surrounded by steppe grasslands used for traditional Kazakh nomadic pastoralism. The area offers some of the most pristine and least-traveled highland landscape in Xinjiang, and yurt stays with Kazakh herder families are available in summer. The surrounding terrain has Bronze Age petroglyphs and ancient nomadic burial mounds characteristic of the Eurasian steppe.
