The Kawarau Bridge Bungee — the world's first commercial bungee jump site — is just 23 km from the airport. The town center's gondola ride up Bob's Peak gives sweeping views, and the Shotover Jet boat ride through narrow canyon walls is another signature experience. Milford Sound (UNESCO) is a 4-hour drive — realistic only for very long layovers.
