Head downtown

If you have a longer layover at Abu Dhabi Airport, take advantage of your time and head into downtown Abu Dhabi. Downtown Abu Dhabi is located 19 miles from the airport and is well connected via public transport links. Spend your day enjoying the breathtaking sights of Abu Dhabi. From impressive modern architecture, beautiful historic sites to picturesque beaches and a vibrant atmosphere, there is plenty to do and see in Abu Dhabi. Transport Options

Bus: Bus services run 24 hours a day from the airport to downtown Abu Dhabi and the surrounding area. Public buses are green and white in color and take about 45 minutes to get from the city to the airport. For more information on schedules and fares visit the website.

Overnight Layover?

If you have an overnight layover at AUH and want to get a good night’s sleep three are several options at the airport. In the transit area, Aerotel offers travelers a comfortable hotel experience without having to pass through security. There are two locations in AUH. Aerotel in Terminal 1 offers single and double cabins with a private bathroom while Aerotel in Terminal 3 is more focused on shorter stays with smaller rooms and no private bathrooms. The Premier Inn Abu Dhabi International Airport is another great option for overnight travelers. Located outside of security (but still in the airport) at Terminal 1 & 3, the Premier Inn offers all the luxuries of a full-service hotel without leaving the airport grounds.
