Head downtown

If you have a long layover, take advantage of your travel downtime and head into the city. Santiago, also known as Santiago de Chile is located 10.6 miles from the airport. Santiago is the capital of Chile and is one of the largest cities in South America. The city is a wonderful place to explore, with different neighbourhoods offering a different side of Chilean culture. Whether you enjoy exploring vast museums, strolling through grand architecture, or dining at delicious restaurants, Santiago has an option for you. Avoid downtown

If you have a longer layover but don’t want to spend it downtown, you can still get out of the airport and enjoy your time. Spend your airport treating yourself to something nice (without the airport price tag!) at the Easton Outlet Mall. The outdoor outlet store features lots of stores with some great discounts. Open daily from 10:00 – 20:00. The mall is located 11.9 miles north of the airport. The quickest and easiest way to get there is via taxi.

Transport Options

Bus: TurBus Aeropuerto and the Centropuerto airport bus routes run from the airport to certain Santiago de Chile metro stations.Taxi: Taxis can be caught from outside the airport terminal 24/7. The official Taxi Aeropuerto taxis are black and yellow.

 Overnight Layover?

If you have a longer layover at SCL and want to get a good night’s sleep, head to one of the nearby hotels. The Holiday Inn Santiago Airport Terminal is the only airport located on the airport grounds. The hotel features a pool and a fitness center for guests to enjoy. Other options located close to the airport include the Hotel Diego de Almagro Aeropuerto and the Hilton Garden Inn Santiago Airport. Both are located less than 10 minutes from the airport and offer free airport shuttles to guests.
