Head downtown

Make the most of your layover and spend it exploring downtown Beijing. The city center is located 18.6 miles from the airport. See ‘Transport Options’ below for the best ways to get from the airport to downtown Beijing. Beijing is an ancient city with a modern twist and truly showcases two parallels of Chinese culture. Explore the Hidden City, the many ancient shrines and temples and the modern art galleries and museums dotted throughout the city. There is something for everyone in Beijing! Avoid Downtown

If you have a long layover but don’t want to spend it in downtown Beijing, head for one of the beautiful, scenic national parks located north of the airport. The closest is Dayangshan National Forest Park which is located 24 miles from the airport, so quite a distance! The park is 90% covered with forest and features hiking trails, scenic views, ancient heritage sites and a botanical garden that you can explore. The park is open from 08:00 – 17:00.

Transport Options

Taxi: The quickest and easiest way to get from the airport to downtown or the surrounding areas is by taxi. Taxi ranks are available just outside all terminals at the airport. Train: The Airport Express railway runs between Terminals 2 and 3, and Dongzhimen and Sanyuanqiao Metro stations in downtown Beijing from 06:30 to 23:00.

Overnight Layover?

If you have a more extended layover in PEK and want to get a good night’s rest, there are many hotel options available for you. If you don’t want to leave the airport transit area, head to the Hourly Hotel. This hotel offers private rooms with en suites to rent for short or more extended stays. Shower facilities are available at an extra charge.If you want a more traditional hotel experience, head to the Hilton Beijing Capital Airport Hotel or the Cordis Hotel Beijing Airport. Both hotels are located just a few minutes from the airport and offer guests a complimentary shuttle to and from the terminal.

Luggage Storage

Luggage Storage & LockersLuggage storage facilities and storage lockers are available throughout the airport. Find them in the corridor between Terminal 1 and 2, near Gate 9 in Terminal 2 and the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 3. Open 24 hours.
