Head downtown

You have two options for your layover at Dallas Fort Worth. You can either head to Fort Worth (23 miles from the airport) or head to Dallas (20 miles from the airport). One of the unfortunate things about Dallas Fort Worth Airport is that is it not particularly close to either Dallas or Fort Worth. However, if you do have a longer layover and want to use that time to soak up some culture you should definitely consider heading to either of the cities. If you choose Fort Worth, head to the Fort Worth Cultural District where you can easily walk to six world class museums. If you choose Dallas head to the Texas Discovery Gardens where you can stroll and meditate within 7.5 acres of botanical gardens.

Avoid downtown

If you have a long layover at DFW but don’t want to make the journey to either Dallas or Fort Worth, you could play a round of golf at Bear Creek Golf Club. The club is located 5.6 miles from the airport. Unfortunately, there are no easy public transport links so the quickest and easiest way to get there is by taxi. You can book a tee time on the website and rent golf clubs at the clubhouse.

Overnight Layover?

There are lots of sleep options at DFW. If you don’t want to leave the transit area you can book a suite at Minute Suites. You can book into Minute Suites for 1 hour or more with prices starting at $42. If you are looking for a more traditional hotel experience, the Grand Hyatt and the Hyatt Regency are both located at DFW airport with free airport shuttles to bring you to the door. Both are great options if you want a good night’s sleep on an overnight layover at DFW.

Luggage Storage

As with most airport in the US, there are no luggage storage facilities available at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. If you have layover at DFW and want to store your luggage try these options:
  • Ask at the airport information desk for recommendations on nearby luggage storage facilities.
  • If you are heading downtown, check for luggage storage lockers at bus and train terminals.
  • Use Google to find a luggage storage service. There are lots of apps and websites that offer luggage storage options on large cities across the US.
