Head downtown

If you have a longer layover at Dubai International Airport, why not take the opportunity to explore downtown Dubai? The city centre is located just 8.3 miles (13.3km) from the airport and is well connected via public transport links. See Transport Options below for more details. There are lots of amazing things to do in Dubai, spend your airport downtime soaking up the city atmosphere and visiting the historical sights throughout the city. Make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to the airport and through security before your next flight.

Transport Options

Bus:  The RTA public city bus service connects Dubai International Airport with downtown Dubai and the surrounding area. Bus stops are available outside of all three terminals at the airport. Plan your route on the RTA website.Metro: Two metro lines connect the airport to the city. The trains can be caught from Terminal 1 and 3 and run from 05:50 – 00:00 everyday.

Overnight Layover?

If you have an overnight layover at Dubai International Airport here are some sleep options. If you want the comfort and luxuries of a traditional hotel, book a room at the Dubai International Hotel. Located in the airport, at Terminal 3, the hotel is ideal for any traveler looking for a place to rest without leaving the airport. The hotel is located after security so you must be a transit passenger to stay here. For a shorter rest head to Sleep ‘n Fly in Terminal 3, opposite Gate A1. The Sleep ‘n Fly Lounge contains 20 state-of-the-art 'igloo'-style sleep pods, plus seven premium double cabins with pull-out kids' bed. Book in for a one-hour power nap or an overnight stay and get some rest without leaving the transit area.

Luggage Storage

Short Term StorageYou can leave your bags at the airport for 12 hours or left. Find luggage storage services in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Open 24 hours. Prices start at AED40 for one item.
