Head downtown

If you have a longer layover, take advantage of your downtime and head to Hamburg city center. Hamburg is a major port city in northern Germany. It sits on the Elbe River and the city is crossed by hundreds of canals. The city center is located just 7 miles from the airport and is well connected via public transport links. Spend your layover walking by the water, enjoying the beautiful architecture of the city and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere. Transport Options

Train: The Hamburg Airport railway station is located directly across from the passenger terminals. You can catch the S-Bahn S1 line which will take you to Hamburg’s main railway station in the city center. The trip takes approx. 25 minutes.Taxi: Taxis are available, on a 24-hour basis, at taxi stands located in front of Terminals 1 and 2.

Overnight Layover?

If you have an overnight layover and want to get a good night’s sleep there are a number of options available to you at HAM. The Radisson Blu Hotel Hamburg Airport is located at the airport, connected to the Airport Plaza via a pedestrian bridge. The Leonardo Inn Hotel Hamburg Airport is another great option as it is located just 500m away from the International Terminal. You can easily walk from the airport or catch the complimentary shuttle bus that is available on request.
