Head downtown

If you have a 6+ hour layover at HAN, take advantage of your downtime and head into the city. Downtown Hanoi is located 15.5 miles from the airport. The fastest and most convenient way to get downtown from the airport is by taxi. Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is known for its centuries-old architecture and a rich culture with Southeast Asian, Chinese and French influences. Spend your day exploring the Old Quarter, one of Hanoi’s most popular attractions and make sure you try some Vietnamese street food. Transport Options

Taxi: Taxis are a convenient and affordable way to get from the airport to downtown Hanoi. Metered taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area of the airport. Make sure to confirm the price beforehand.Bus: There are many public bus routes to service the airport. Routes 7, 17, 86, and 90 will take you to the areas surrounding the airport.

Overnight Layover?

If you have an overnight layover at HAN and want to get a good night's sleep there are many options available to you at and near the airport. VATC SleepPods provides a small sleeping cabin in the airport terminals and is a great option if you want to get a few hours rest. For a more traditional hotel experience, the Luxury Airport Hotel is located just 1.8 miles from the airport. The hotel provides airport pick up but you will need to organize it in advance.
