Head downtown

If you have 6 or more hours to spare during your layover take advantage of your downtime and head into Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia. The city features a number of attractions including some impressive modern architecture. Avoid downtown

If you have a longer layover but don’t want to spend it in the city, head to the Paya Indah Wetlands instead. This 450-hectare wetland sanctuary features wildlife, boating, fishing, cycling trails & more. Spend your layover out in nature and enjoying the beautiful natural landscape. Located 11.8 miles from the airport, the quickest and easiest way to get there is via taxi.

Transport Options

Train: The fastest way to get from KUL to the city centre is by taking the KLIA Ekspres. There is a non-stop service to the KL City Air Terminal (KL CAT) located in in KL Sentral. The ride takes 33 minutes.Taxi: There are two types of taxis available at KUL, couponed and metered. Pre purchase a coupon from the Transport Hub located in gateway@klia2 (Terminal 2 shopping area) and the couponed taxi will take you to your destination at the fixed rate. These are popular for getting downtown or to local tourist sites. Metered taxi charge depending on the distance.

Overnight Layover?

There are lots of options for overnight passengers at KUL. The transit area has a number of capsule sleeping rooms that you can rent from a minimum of 3 hours.
