Head downtown
If you have a longer layover at La Guardia Airport, why not get out of the airport and enjoy the surrounding area? La Guardia is located just 10.5 miles from Manhattan. If you have the time spend your airport layover exploring some of the most famous tourist attractions in the US such as Central Park or Times Square.The NYC Airporter bus provided passengers with a direct connection between La Guardia airport and Grand Central Station. Make sure you always give yourself enough time to get back to the airport and through security before your connecting flight.Avoid downtown
If you don’t feel like heading downtown but still want to get out of the airport, head to the Queen’s botanical gardens instead. Located 4.6 miles from the airport, the gardens offer layover passengers a great opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery without venturing too far from the airport. The gardens are open from 08:00 – 16:30 from November to March and from 08:00 – 18:00 from April to October. Admission costs $6.Transport Options
Taxi: Metered taxi service is available at all LaGuardia Airport terminal buildings. Please note that there is a $1.00 peak-time surcharge for trips between 16:00 and 20:00 on weekdays and there is a $.50 surcharge for trips from 08:00 to 18:00 daily. Bus and Rail: New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) buses provide service between LaGuardia Airport, Manhattan, Queens and beyond with connections to the subway, Long Island Railroad and Metro-North Railroad. A one-way trip on MTA buses or subways costs $2.75. MetroCards can be purchased at MetroCard vending machines located throughout LaGuardia Airport terminals. Passengers using MetroCards get a free transfer from their bus to the subway.Luggage Storage
As with most airport in the US, there are no public luggage storage facilities available at LaGuardia Airport. If you have layover at LGA and want to store your luggage try these options:- Ask at the airport information desk for recommendations on nearby luggage storage facilities.
