6+ Hours at LAX
Maeve Power
Have you got 6+ hours to spare at LAX? Check out these options to make the most of your airport downtime.
Head downtown
If you have a longer layover at LAX, why not head downtown and experience Los Angeles. Downtown LA is located 19 miles from LAX? If you are heading downtown make sure you account for heavy LA traffic, especially around rush hour. Make sure you have enough time to get back to the airport and through security without putting yourself under pressure. The LAX FlyAway bus is the best direct route from the airport to downtown LA and can be caught from the terminal.Avoid downtown
If you don’t want to head all the way downtown, you can visit Santa Monica instead. Explore the famous Santa Monica Pier, relax on the beach or go for a walk to the iconic Venice Beach Boardwalk. Grab a bite to eat along the boardwalk before heading back and soak up some Californian sunshine. Located just 11.3 miles from the airport, Santa Monica is much closer to LAX, however you will still get caught in heavy LA traffic, especially if you are traveling at rush hour.Transport Options
Bus: The LAX FlyAway bus is an express bus between LAX terminals and Union Station in downtown LA. Taxi or Rideshare: The LAX-it station is where you can catch your taxi, Lyft or Uber from LAX. A free shuttle can be caught from outside each terminal at LAX that will bring you to the LAX-it station. The LAX-it shuttle has free Wi-Fi so you can order your Lyft or Uber which en-route.Overnight Layover?
There are no sleeping options in LAX airport. If you want to get a good night’s sleep on your layover your best option is to head to one of the near-by hotels. If you arrive in the middle of the night, the Hyatt Regency Los Angeles International Airport is a great option. The hotel has a complimentary 24 hour shuttle bus from LAX and a 24 hour fitness center so you can get in a good workout no matter what time you arrive. If you want to soak up some of that California sunshine head for the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel. The hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle bus from the airport and has a heated outdoor pool.Luggage Storage
LAX Luggage StorageUnfortunately, there are no luggage storage facilities available at LAX. LAX Luggage Storage will pick up your luggage from the terminal and drop it back to you again when you are heading on your next flight. All you have to do is call and they will come to the airport to get your bag. Terminal pick up and drop off costs $5 each way per item. Storage starts at $12 per day for carry-on sized luggage. Open daily from 04:00 – 00:00 with after hours services available at an extra charge. Located at 8622 Bellanca Ave Suite G, Los Angeles.Sanctifly Site Overview
