Head downtown

If you have a longer layover at MAN, take advantage of your time and explore the city. Downtown Manchester is located just 9.2 miles from the airport and is well connected via public links. Manchester is a major city in the northwest of England with a rich industrial heritage. Spend your layover exploring the many museums, historical sites and galleries. Avoid downtown

If you have a longer layover but do not want to spend it exploring the city, use it to explore the natural landscape instead. The Peak District National Park is located 14.2 miles from the airport. This large recreation area features hiking trails, museums and stunning views. Take a taxi to the trailhead and start exploring (weather permitting!).

Transport Options

Train: Direct trains operate between the airport and Manchester city. The trains run every 10 minutes and take approx. 20 minutes to get downtown.Bus: Manchester Airport is well connected via a series of local and regional bus routes. There is a 24 hour Stagecoach bus service that connect the airport to downtown Manchester.

Overnight Layover?

If you have an overnight layover at Manchester Airport and want to get a good night’s sleep, there are many hotel options available to you. The closest is the Radisson Blu Hotel which is connected to the terminal via a covered walkway. The Marriott Manchester Airport and the Clayton Hotel are also great options for a full service hotel experience. Both are a short distance from the airport (less than 5 minutes) and offer a complimentary shuttle bus to hotel guests.
