Head downtown
If you have a longer layover at MNL, take advantage of your downtime and head into the city. Downtown Manila is located 7.3 miles from the airport. Manila is the capital city of the Philippines that sits on the bay of Manila. The city is a stark contrast of modern skyscrapers and colonial architecture. A lovely city to spend the day, we recommend heading to the inner walled city of Old Manila and spending the day visiting some of the famous architectural sites. The fastest way to get downtown from the airport is via taxi. Alternatively, you can catch the Metro Rail Line downtown from the airport MRT station. For more details on what to do during your layover in Manila, visit the Lonely Planet Guide to Manila.
Avoid downtown
If you want to get out of the airport during your airport downtime but do not want to spend it exploring the city, head to the Villamor Golf Club or a round of golf. Though not a particularly challenging course, this public golf course is located close to the airport and gives layover passengers the opportunity to get out in the fresh air and get some exercise. There is also a driving range available. Only 1.7 miles from the airport, you can easily walk to the course in 35 minutes. Open daily from 05:00 – 22:00.
