Head downtown

If you have a longer layover at MEX, leave your luggage at the airport and take the opportunity to explore the city. Mexico City International Airport is located just 4 miles from the historic centre of Mexico City and is well connected via public transport links. Templo Mayor, a historic temple dating from Aztec times is a must-see and the accompanying museum is a great place to spend a few hours. Always make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to the airport and through security before your next flight.

Transport Options

Bus: Mexico City International Airport has two 24 hour bus terminals. The bus routes connect the airport to Mexico City and the surrounding area. Catch the bus near the car ramp leading to the Internationals area in Terminal 1 and from Gate D in Terminal 2.Metro: The Terminal Area station is within walking distance of the airport terminals and connects the airport to the Mexico City metro system.

Overnight Layover?

If you have an overnight layover at Mexico City International Airport and want to get a good night’s rest, there are a number of options available. The izZzleep Capsule Hotel is located in the airport terminal and offers travelers the chance to rent a small but comfortable room from 2 hours to a full overnight stay.
