Milan Malpensa Airport is located 30 miles from downtown Milan. That is a long way to go but the city and the airport are well connected via public transport links. Milan is world-renowned for being the global capital of fashion and design. This large metropolitan city in northern Italy offers a taste of modern Italy with its chic cafes and shopping plazas, but it is also a city steeped in history and art with many museums and iconic art pieces. Avoid downtown

If you have a longer layover but don’t want to spend it in the city head north from the airport instead and explore the many nature preserves and national parks. The Palude Brabbia is located 14.6 miles from the airport and is a popular spot for walking and bird watching. If you have enough time to spare and want to go on a good hike head to Campo dei Fiori Regional Park. This national park offers several hiking trails around the forests and lakes with stunning views of the natural landscape.

Transport Options

Train: The Malpensa Express train connects the airport and downtown Milan. The train stops at Terminal 1 and 2 and takes approx. 1 hour to get downtown.Bus: To get to areas surrounding the airport your best option is the bus. The airport is well connected to the surrounding area via a bus system. Visit the Malpensa Airport to plan your route.

If you have an overnight layover at MXP and want to get a good night's sleep there are many options available to you at the airport. The MOXY Milan Malpensa Airport and the First Hotel Malpensa are another two great options located just a few minutes’ walk from the airport terminal.
