Head downtown
If you have a longer layover at Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport, why not take the opportunity to explore one of the nearby cities? MSP is located 10 miles from Minneapolis and 10 miles from St. Paul. The quickest and easiest way to get to either city is by taxi however both cities are well-connected to the airport via public transport links. Catch the 54 push direct to St. Paul. Take the Blue line to get to downtown Minneapolis. Both cities have lots to do to keep you occupied on your layover. Make sure you leave enough time (especially if you are heading to St. Paul) to get back to the airport and through security before your next flight.Avoid downtown
If you have a longer layover but don’t feel like heading to the city spend your travel downtime exploring the local parks and nature reserves. MSP is surrounded by a number of parks and the Mississippi River flows right beside the airport. Hike the trails, discover the hidden falls and so much more without venturing too far from the airport.Transport Options
Light Rail: Light rain transit (LRT) provides access from the airport to downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America. Trains stop at both Terminals and run every 10-15 minutes.Bus: The Metro Transit Bus #54 stops outside Terminal 1. This bus connects the airport to downtown St. Paul.Train: The Amtrak Station is located close to MSP and easily accessible via the LRT.Overnight Layover?
Intercontinental Minneapolis AirportIf you have an overnight layover at MSO and want a good night’s rest take advantage of the onsite hotel. The Intercontinental Hotel at Minneapolis Airport offers luxury suites, fine dining, a fitness centre and full-service spa so you can spend your layover in style. You can easily access the hotel from Terminal 1 via the Skylink or via the complimentary hotel shuttle from the baggage claim area.There are a number of other hotels located within 10 minutes of the airport should you wish to go off site for the night. Free shuttle are available from the airport.Luggage Storage
Storage Lockers at MSPStorage lockers are available in secure areas of Terminal 1. Lockers are only large enough to store carry-on luggage.
