Head downtown

If you have a 6+ hour layover at YUL, take advantage of your time and head into Montreal. The city is located 11.5 miles from the airport and is well connected via public transport links. Montréal is the largest city in Canada's Québec province. The city sits on the Saint Lawrence River and is built on a Mt. Royal, after which the city is named. Enjoy some time walking the cobblestoned streets, hike or take the cable car to the top of the hill for stunning views of the city or stop for a coffee at one of the many cafes and enjoy the atmosphere of the city.

Avoid downtown

If you don’t feel like spending your layover in the city head to Bois-de-Liesse Nature Park for a hike. This large park covers 390 acres and has a visitor center, sledding mounds and lots of trails for walking or running. The park is located 7.1 miles from the airport. The quickest and easiest way to get there is by taxi. The bus will get you there, but the journey will take over an hour.

Transport Options

Bus: The 747 Express is a 24-hour city bus line that runs between the airport and the central bus station in Montreal. The trip can take up to 1 hour, depending on traffic so make sure you have plenty of time before your next flight if you are heading into the city.Train: Trains to the city and the wider surrounding areas can be caught at the VIA rail station at Dorval. The AirConnect airport shuttle connects Montreal-Trudeau International Airport with the station at Dorval.

Overnight Layover?

If you have an overnight layover at YUL and want to get a good night's sleep there are many options available to you at and near the airport. The Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel is located in the airport terminal and has a fitness center and a pool so you can get in a good workout before you catch your flight. The Sheraton Montreal Airport Hotel is anther great options and is located just a few minutes from the airport. A free shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes to bring guests to and from the terminal.
