Head downtown

If you have a longer layover, don’t spend it in the airport, head outside and explore the surrounding area. The airport is located 6.2 miles from the airport. Grab a taxi or hop on a bus and head to Mumbai for your layover over. Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay) is a densely populated city that sits on the shore of Mumbai harbour. Explore ancient temples and architecture, experience authentic Indian cuisine and maybe even catch sight of a Bollywood star during your time in Mumbai. Avoid downtown

If you want to get out of the airport but don’t want to spend your layover in the city, head to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, a sprawling forested park home to the ancient Kanheri Caves, a lion & tiger safari & nature trails.. The Shilonda Trail is located in the park and stretches 2.5 miles into the park. The national park is located 11.6 miles from the airport. Grab a taxi to the trail head an enjoy a walk in the beautiful natural landscape.

Transport Options

Bus: BEST buses serve the airport and Mumbai metropolitan area. Bus information is available at the Information Desks located in the Arrivals areas of each terminal.Taxi: Taxi is the easiest way to get from the airport to the city. Travelers can choose between a licensed, metered taxi or a prepaid taxi service. Prepaid taxi counters are located in the Arrivals area of each terminal. Metered taxis can be hailed outside of the terminal.

Overnight Layover?

If you have an overnight layover and want to get a good night’s sleep there are a number of options in and close to the airport. For passengers that do not want to leave the terminal building visit the Niranta Airport Transit Hotel & Lounge. Located inside Terminal 2, you must be flying out of T2 in order to access this transit hotel.
