Head downtown
If you have a longer layover at PIT, take advantage of your downtime and head into the city. Downtown Pittsburgh is located 17.9 miles from the airport and is well connected via public transport links. Pittsburgh is known as the ‘City of Bridges’ as it has 446 bridges throughout the city! Spend your day exploring the city and enjoy its unique mix of historical and industrial landmarks. If you have a longer layover but don’t want to spend it in the city, head to the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden instead. The Gardens consist of a woodland area, which is great for walking and a series of display gardens which are great for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. During spring and summer the gardens are open from 09:00 – 17:00 Tuesday – Sunday. Admission costs $10 per adult.Transport Options
Bus: The public bus route 28X Airport Flyer connects the airport with downtown Pittsburgh and several neighborhoods. Catch the bus from Door 6. The ride downtown takes approx. 1 hour.Overnight Layover?
If you have an overnight layover at PIT and want to get a good night's sleep there are many options available to you at and near the airport. The Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport is the only hotel located at the airport. It is connected to the terminal via an indoor walkway.
