Head downtown

If you have a longer layover and want to spend it exploring the city and enjoying the local culture, head to Hyderabad. Hyderabad is the capital of southern India's Telangana state and a major hub from technology in India. Spend the day exploring the city’s historic sites, such as Golconda Fort or the Charminar, a 16th-century mosque or spend it enjoying the many upscale restaurants and shops. Make sure that you leave plenty of time to get to and from the city center during your layover. Avoid downtown

If you have a longer layover but don’t want to spend it in the city, head instead for Mrugavani National Park. Located 13.8 miles from the airport, the national park is a small but beautiful park where you can get closer to nature. The park has many walking trails that you can run or walk and is home to lots of wildlife, including some deer. Climb to the viewing point and look out over the lush greenery towards the city.

If you have an overnight layover and want to get a good night’s rest, there are some options at the airport. The Airport Lodge is a comfortable and affordable airport hotel located just outside the terminal building. You must produce a boarding pass in order to stay here. You can book a room in 6, 12 or 24 hour packages.For those that want a more traditional hotel experience with more facilities, head to the Novotel, located 5 minutes from the airport. The hotel features a large gym, swimming pool, spa and restaurant options.
