Head downtown

If you have a longer layover at DCA, take the opportunity to visit the city. Washington DC is located just 5.2 miles from DCA Airport and is well connected via public transport links. Spend the day exploring Freedom Plaza, the Lincoln Memorial and stop by the White House to see the iconic home of the President of the United States. Make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to the airport and through security before your next flight.

Avoid downtown

If you have a longer layover but do not want to head into the city, there are lots of other things to do close to the airport. DCA Airport is located 3.7 miles from Arlington National Cemetery which features many famous sites such as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and more. Leave your bags at the airport and spend your downtime exploring the historic sites while getting in a little exercise before catching your next flight.

Metro: The Washington DC Metrorail system is connected to the concourse level of Terminals B and C at Reagan National Airport. The Metro provides easy and affordable access to locations throughout Washington, Virginia and Maryland.
