Head downtown
If you have a longer layover, why not take the opportunity to explore Salt Lake City? The airport is located just 7.5 miles from downtown Salt Lake City. There is lots to do in the city such as visiting the Salt Lake City Temple, The Natural History Museum of Utah or the enjoy beautiful Red Buttle Garden. Just make sure to allow yourself enough time to get back to the airport and through security.Avoid downtown
If you have a longer layover but don’t want to spend it in the city, why not play a round of golf to pass the time? Rose Park Golf Club is one of the most popular 18 hole courses in Utah. The course itself is quite challenging, due to both its length and wooded areas so it may not be the best option for inexperienced golfers. Rates are available on the club’s website. The course also offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the city. Playing a round of golf at Rose Park Golf Club is a fantastic way to get in some exercise while enjoying the beautiful landscape that surrounds Salt Lake City.Transport Options
Trax Light Rail Service: The TRAX/light rail Green Line connects SLC to downtown Salt Lake City. The train leaves the airport every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes on weekends. The TRAX stop is located at the south end of Terminal 1. It will bring you right into the city centre and the trip only takes about 20 minutes. A one-way ticket costs $2.50.Overnight Layover?
If you have an overnight layover at Salt Lake City Airport there are a number of hotel options within 3 miles of the airport. The D Hyatt Place Salt Lake City Airport, Courtyard Salt Lake City Airport and the Airport Inn Hotel are all located within a few miles of the airport and all offer free shuttle services to and from the airport for guests.Unfortunately, there are no sleep options available within the transit area of the airport so you will need to pass through security if you want to get a good night’s sleep on your layover.Luggage Storage
As with most airports in the US, there are no luggage storage facilities available at Salt Lake City Airport. If you have a layover at SLC and want to store your luggage try these options:- Ask at the airport information desk for recommendations on nearby luggage storage facilities.
