Head downtown

If you have a longer layover at TPE, don’t spend it in the airport terminal. Get out and explore the surrounding area. Free transit tours are available for travelers with a layover of 7+ hours. These half-day tours last approx. 4 hours. The morning tour visits Sanxia, known for its Daoist temple and artistic culture. The afternoon tour heads to downtown Taipei and explores the city and its sights.If you want to explore Taipei you can catch the Jichang Line from the Airport Hotel Station. This will take you directly into the heart of Taipei. The airport is located 27 miles from the city center so getting in and out of the city takes a bit of time. Always make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to the airport and through security before your next flight.

Avoid downtown

If you have a longer layover but don’t want to take a transit tour or head to Taipei there are some great options closer to the airport. Head north to the old fishing port at Zhuwei. Walk along the pier or head to Zhuwei beach and enjoy the sunshine and stunning ocean views. Located just 2.7 miles from the airport, the small town of Zhuwei is a great place to spend a relaxing layover and enjoy some local culture.

Transport Options

Train: The airport is well connected to Taipei via train. Downtown express trains can be caught at the Airport Terminal 1 & 2 Stations.Bus: The airport is connected to the surrounding area via several bus services. Bus services between Taipei Main Station and the airport run every 20 minutes for 24 hours.

Overnight Layover?

If you have an overnight layover at TPE and want to get a good night's sleep there are many options available to you close to the airport.
