Head downtown
If you have a longer layover at VIE take the opportunity to explore the city of Vienna. The airport is located 14 miles from the airport and is well connected via public transport links. The city of Vienna sits on the Danube River and is known for its Imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. Spend your layover strolling around the city and enjoying the impressive architecture or visiting one of the many museums and galleries. Train: CAT is a non-stop express train that can reach central Vienna from the airport in just 16 minutes. The train operates from 5:37 AM – 11:39 PM with fares costing €12 one way.The S-Bahn railway also connects the airport to central Vienna and the main Vienna train station where travelers can catch commuter trains to surrounding areas.Bus: Several bus routes serve Vienna airport connecting it to central Vienna and other transport hubs. The Wien Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz line which operates 24 hours a day and can reach central Vienna from the airport in just 20 minutes.Overnight Layover?
If you have an overnight layover at VIE and want to get a good night's sleep there are many options available at and close to the airport. The NH Vienna Airport Conference Center is the only hotel available on airport grounds. The hotel is just a 2-minute walk from the Arrivals Hall and offers all the luxuries of a full-service hotel including a gym and spa. There are several more hotels located within a 10-minute drive of the airport should you wish to travel further from the airport.Luggage Storage
