Head downtown

If you have more than 6 hours to spare at IAH, why not take the opportunity to head into the city? Downtown Houston is 20.4 miles from the airport. The quickest and easiest way to get there is by taxi. The 102 bus connects Terminal C to downtown Houston however this will take over an hour to get you to the city. Make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to the airport and through security before your next flight.

Avoid downtown

If you have a longer layover but don’t want to spend it in the city, there are some great hiking options close to the airport. The Spring Creek Greenway is accessible from Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center and connects approx. 7,000 acres of forest in Harris County. Spend your layover exploring more than 19 miles of natural forests and white sandy beaches along Spring Creek. The trails are perfect for walking, running or biking.

Bus: The airport is connected to the Houston Metro Station via the 102 bus. Catch the bus from Terminal C at baggage claim level. Overnight Layover?

The Houston Airport Marriott at George Bush Intercontinental is the only hotel located on the airport grounds and overnight passengers the comfort and luxury of a full service hotel without needing to venture too far from the airport. The hotel offers guests a free shuttle too and from the airport and amenities include a restaurant, fitness center and outdoor poor.

As with most airport in the US, there are no luggage storage facilities available at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. If you have a layover at IAH and want to store your luggage try these options:
