Have you got 6+ hours to spare at London Gatwick? Check out these options to make the most of your airport downtime.
Head downtown
If you have a long layover at Gatwick why not get out of the airport and head to downtown London? Gatwick is located approx. a 1-hour drive from central London. Check your carry on into left luggage at the airport and take to train to the city. Trains leave the airport every 15 minutes from the South Terminal’s railway station and will get you downtown in approx. 35 minutes. You can get a flexible return ticket for just under £35.Remember to leave enough time to get back to the airport before your flight. You will need to get through security and pick up your luggage so plan your return time carefully. The train is an express route so delays are unusual but still a possibility.Avoid downtown
Getting to and from London can take a lot of your time. If you feel like your layover is not long enough to warrant heading into the city there are plenty of other options close to Gatwick. The railway station is located in the South Terminal (get the free inter-terminal shuttle to the station if you are at the North Terminal). You can buy tickets for any rail service at the station or online.Taxi: Taxis are available 24 hours at Gatwick Airport. You can pre-book online to ensure one is available when you arrive here.
